DESCRIPTION: PW lot (2) Hamilton, Grade 936 with consecutive serial numbers 6007 and 6008, 17J, 18S, gold-filled OF swingout recases with beautiful engine turning and engraving detail, s#6007 with idyllic lakeside home scene and initialed shield to case rear, s#6007 with a fancy white enamel SS dial with powder blue and gold foil numeral surrounds, gold foil decorations, small red glass inset above signature, s#6008 with Montgomery white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, nickel damascene, s#6007 and s#6008. Serial number 6007 is listed in the Hamilton ledger as having been sold to J.W. Forsinger of Chicago, Illinois on May 28th, 1895; while serial number 6008 is listed in the Hamilton ledger as having been sold to August Rhoads of Lancaster, Pennsylvania on April 8th, 1895. An excellent opportunity for the Hamilton collector to acquire an attractive early consecutive pair.
CONDITION: S#6007: Mvt: Running though balance motion becomes more sluggish when in dial-down position, overhaul recommended, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, some scattered fine to micro-fine scratches and small surface nicks, some marring to balance jewel setting and surrounding area, some oxide to regulator assembly; dial with some scattered hls, small chip at seconds-register hole, edge chipping under bezel between 4:30 and 5, edge flake under bezel at 1:30; fine hands, seconds-hand with oxide; case shows virtually no wear, dent to edge at 3:30 with some associated surface nicks, ding to edge at 6:30, some scattered nicks elsewhere around edge, small ding to front of pendant, superb crisp engine turning and engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows hardly any wear; glass crystal with some fine scratches and abrasions. S#6008: Mvt: Running, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, profuse fine scratches and nicks to plate surface below regulator adjustment screw, some scattered fine to micro-fine scratches elsewhere, some oxide to regulator assembly; nearly flawless dial with only some beveling rub of perimeter; fine mismatched hands, minute is a heavier style, seconds-hand is somewhat short; case shows very little wear, some scattered small nicks along band, no dents, excellent engine turning and engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows little wear; good glass crystal.
